Our cause work at Roots of Hope is not just a Cuban issue, it’s a human issue.
With the help of other non-profit, activist organizations, along with the partnership of TakingItGlobal.com and EcoPhones, we want to grow this project into a worldwide effort to bring cell phones, and more importantly the power of communication, to youth in closed and 3rd world societies.
With these tools of communications, the power of communication, through a phone call, text message, picture message, video, Twitter update, or Facebook update, can be given to youth world-wide.

What does the organization do?
Youth Going Mobile, a large umbrella project, run by Roots of Hope, will serve as the body of the project. Other multi-national organizations will then create similar projects like Cell Phones for Cuba (Cell Phones for Iran, Burma, etc.), and serve as the limbs of the project.

Youth Going Mobile will be able to advertise a multi-national project to large, multinational telecommunication corporations rather than numerous individual projects.

Each of the country-specific projects will work with their respective communities around the world to raise awareness about the project, collect old used cell phones, and distribute new cell phones in their respective countries. Youth Going Mobile will serve as the logistical center (processing of collected phones, purchase of brand new phones, distribution of phones to country-specific projects etc.) as well as the marketing center of the project.
