The vision of Youth for Development Association is to create a well-informed and aware young generation that can take responsibility for global problems like extreme poverty, hunger, enviromental issues and actively take part in the solution of these problems. At the moment we have two running awareness raising projects.

In many developing countries the lack of equipment in primary schools is contributing to the poverty cycle. The project „Pens against Poverty” aims to appease this problem by collecting stationery in Hungary for distribution in schools in impoverished communities. We collect pens at schools, universities, NGOs and from the private sector and send them to our partner sin developing countries. They are responsible for ensuring that the stationery reaches needy children and provides them a chance to education. Until experiencing it in some way, most people cannot imagine how valuable a pen is to a child living in extreme poverty. We try to tackle this challenge by involving young people to participate int he process of collecting and distributing.

The project „Responsible for the Enviroment” consists of workshops in selected high schools drawing the attention of students to global enviromental problems, which they face in their everyday lives. We believe that publis opinion and attitudes have a great effect on global problems, for this reason we first try to raise the students attention to issues in which they themselves can make a difference on a local level e.g. patterns of consumptoin or new alternatives, we think that they will make an effort int he future to undrestand and engage in golbal issues. This program focuses on giving students techniques and abilities to tackle everyday problems. Active participation throughout the workshops promotes attitude and behavioral change leading to social and enviromental responsibility.

We are looking for young people who would like to get involved in our activities. For Pens against Poverty project we are open to any young person in the world who would be an ambassador of the program. Youth from donor countries can participate in awareness raising about poverty and education,...

We are looking for young people who would like to get involved in our activities. For Pens against Poverty project we are open to any young person in the world who would be an ambassador of the program. Youth from donor countries can participate in awareness raising about poverty and education, while young people in developing countries have a major role in this project – they work at local level and map the needy schools, orphanages and communities and make sure that the school supplies sent by the Association goes to the right cause. In Responsible for the Enviroment project young people have an opportunity to teach their peers about environmental protection and sustainable behavior focusing on different issues in each country.
