Youth 2 Youth in Zimbabwe is a sport and cultural organisation for young persons between the ages of 5 to 30 years. It is based in Chitungwiza, Harare province and has membership in other provinces. It was established in June 1997, adopting the name from the newsletter of the Caribbean Development Foundation. It successfully organised and implemented a voluntry clean-up operation campaign of Chitungwiza Municipality from September 1997 until December 1997. In November 1997, members of the organisation attended a Youth exchange programme, which was organised by Tsungi Garise and Bilal Ameem of the Carribbean Foundation, which took them to all parts of Zimbabwe. During the AIDS week of December 1997, some members of Y2Y went around schools, clinics, and the streets performing drama to raise people's awareness to the epidemic. In 1998 Y2Y was invloved in a voluntary fire-fighting programme, UNDP's Artist Against Poverty Campaign, HIV/AIDS Campaign through drama, the girl-child and women in sports programmes, and men soccer and traditional dance peformances.
In 1999 Y2Y continued with some of the programmes. During that year they presented a paper on Youth and Cultural appoarch towards HIV/AIDS by UNESCO, Japanesse Goodwill Mission Cultural Exchange Programme, Strategic Plan for rural Youth programmes by FAO and Agritex, organised the International Volunteers Day by UNDP and paticipated in a number of workshops.
The year 2000 Y2Y as it progressed proposed and worked on a youth directory 'The UNESCO Out-of-School Youth Database', UNDP International Year of Volunteers 2001, on the 5th of December 2000 celerabations, Zimbabwe Volunteers Directory and workshops.
