The vulnerable youth are obtaining the skills and the opportunities to be able better to meet their own and their communities needs and to play active and meaningful roles in the peaceful transitioning of the Abkhaz-Georgian conflict, the building of civil society and the emerging market-based economies in their respective communities. The YLPD Program helps to ensure that vulnerable youth are included in the process of peace building and economic development among those segments of Abkhaz and Georgian society who might otherwise be excluded from these processes and opportunities.

The club offers a core educational and training program for members of Young Leaders’ Club. The core subjects are conflict transformation, English, computers, NGO management and small business. The club will be engaged in a number of community outreach activities. The club will be expected to continue to manage and operate its after-school educational program for younger children and peers (The Weekend Schools). The club will also carry out a variety of community service activities and income-generating projects. The club will be encouraged to conduct periodically community needs assessments and to demonstrate that their activities are serving a broad cross-section of their community and its needs.
As they are doing now, the club will be encouraged present art, musical, dance and cultural performances for their communities. Many of these events are used as a way to raise funds for club activities and projects. Also these community events can be powerful ways to promote trust, confidence building and friendship across the conflict divide and non-violent options for the resolution of the conflict.
