GEFO is an official acronym of Genesis Foundation which encapsulated the number of multiskilled brain power of agriculture graduate from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania strategically has ambitions to improve livelihood of majority of Tanzanians, especially rural people, through improving agriculture production. GEFO which has its base in Morogoro Region is a legally registered Non-Governmental Organization under the Trustee Ordinance Cap 375 of the Law of the United Republic of Tanzania with number 2748.
The general purpose that led formation of the organization, among others, was to be of beneficial to the majority in the country and thus its area of operation is intended to be the country over.
The organization is managed by the Board of Trustee (BOT) being the highest decision making organ in the organization which is responsible for overall supervision of activities and policy formulation and the advisory committee which overseas the activity of organization.
The GEFO has overall mission that is encapsulated in the following statement:
GEFO works to create a well informed farming community that we will work hand in hand in exploring both human and material resources available that believe if successfully managed have high chances of reducing poverty in the country.
In order to come up with such a success the following strategies are in place:
•To assist farmers to acquire appropriate and practical technologies that will assist in improving farming activities and make it more of profitable occupations;
•To assist farmers to establish and manage their own rural credits opportunities that we envisage will make farming activities more sustainable;
•Empowerment and participatory decision making will be a mirror to lead truly and authentic development and
•Importantly, it’s our mandate to ensure that any income generating activities is not liable to violate our beauty of environment and hence, measures will be in place to ensure environment is well protected.
