The Taiwan Youth for Democracy in Asia (TYDA) was founded on the vision of providing a platform for the constructive exchange of ideas amongst the youths of Taiwan. TYDA has a two track mission: promote the ideals and practices of democracy at the grass-root level through dialogue and activism, and to reinforce the efforts of youths for promoting democratic values and universal human rights. In a young democratic society, the youths are systematically marginalized by sensationalist media and biased reporting which distorts public discourses. Dialogue is necessary to encourage a healthy debate on the democratic development of Taiwan, as well as to construct a new national discourse that is inclusive of the youths. Internationally, TYDA will strive to serve as a vehicle to bring the world to Taiwan; to help facilitate understanding through the sharing of experiences.

To achieve its internal goal, TYDA will hold two capacity building workshops every year. These workshops will bring prominent activists within Taiwan to teach Taiwanese students. In these meetings, students have the opportunity to learn how to organize and become active in advocating issues. The participants of these workshops will become the core members of TYDA. Other activities that TYDA will host include student roundtable discussions around college campuses and other related events.
Becoming active in TYDA will be a helpful network for youths who are concerned about democracy and human rights. Moreover, they will be a part of an organisation that shares in their vision that freedom and liberty is one that everyone has the right to enjoy.
