OBJECTIVES
SOYES keeping its responsibility and way forward in achieving its goals will take positive actions against poverty, joblessness, anarchy, human right abuse and illiteracy. So that:
1. Somali children and youth get their rightful basic Education.
2.To provide skills and Education so that they can cover for their live hood.
3. To create various activities for the youth to earn income.
4. To teach the youth and children the importance of peace, how to bring it back and to spread it to the nation wide.
5. To campaign against tribalism, drugs, violence, human right abuse and other social crimes among the youth.
6. Youth voice and role in the country is recognized and considered by the federal government, private sectors, NGOs and the international agencies and organizations.
7. Youth participations in decision-making process at the national platform in the country.
ACHIEVED ACTIVITIES
Social Activities
Education
Within a year of SOYES existence successfully fulfilled same of its goals .one of these significant goals achieved is opening Deegaan School in educating the youth and children especially those of poor heritage.
SOYES opened up two different schooling programs.
1.primary education program
2.Adult education program
The above two programmers was used directly to target children of poor families and youth especially those older than 16 year of age who lost the opportunity to get schooling due to long standing civil strive in Somalia. 127 boys and girls benefited from this two schooling programs, 39 of them were learning free of charge
Youth Awareness
SOYES focusing on its goals successfully held two organized open forums for the youth. The two forums emphasized on awareness of peace, good governance and fundamental rights, so that the youth gain characteristics of good leadership and to spearhead decisions made on social-economic, cultural and political affairs in the country.
This forum is focused on how the Somali youth will be organized and motivated to create awareness of self initiative that is productive which can result in a progressive change to the current mood of violence, human rights abuse, armed conflicts and poverty. We also debated how the youth could participate in the leadership and decision making process of the above mentioned change.
Goals the organizer hoped to achieve by holding this Open Forum for youth in the community:
To create fruitful cooperation among youth organizations, the elite individuals in the youth and students, to change the current extreme situations.
To get large numbers of capable youth who can undertake the role of leadership and decision making
The socio-economic and cultural obstacles pointed by the participant were:
• Lack of common ideas and believes among the youth.
• Expansive lack of education among the youth.
• Lack of central government in the country for the last 16 years.
• Poverty, unemployment and economic imbalance among the fabrics in the society.
• Lack or less, effective civil society organizations in the country.
• A strong cultural belief in clans among the youth which scribbled unity, peace and collective development.
• Lack of clear and distinct leadership among the youth.
The participant clearly and objectively pinpointed solutions to the obstacles quick matching the goals of the forum:
• To create and work towards common goals, ideas, believes and interest among the youth.
• All youth organizations, student leagues individual youth with higher education and working youth to come together and strive to educate children and youth who are financially incapable.
• To unite the ability, influence and the power of all youth organizations, student leagues in order to get a common say and leadership under one umbrella.
• The youth must comprehend the responsibility upon them and come up with initiatives and solutions for the political instability in the country which caused torturers life conditions, abject poverty and unemployment.
• To convert the beautiful ideas and solutions in to quick actions collectively and individually.
Economics Activities
SOYES trying to answer the massive unemployment existed in the country especially youth. Have opened up school named Deegaan which employed 8 youth composed of
Degree, and diploma holders from local and international universities, so that their mood and moral is up held during this critical history that Somalia is in. SOYES also employed sub-ordinal staff especially watchman and cleaner this employment activities covered economic needs for the teachers and other staffs them selves and those of their families.
Advocacy and lobbying Activities
SOYES played an active role in uniting their efforts of lobbying advocacy with political leaders in order to influence them for the interest of youth. In so doing the youth can easily get the support of policy makers and decide the matters that are affecting them in this difficult and sorrow time of their society..
To use their youthful voice, so that their ability and influence is recognized in the corridors of power in reason that they can take part in the decision-making process, nationally and internationally also on matters relating to peace, reconciliation, political disputes, conflicting Ideas, social-economic, cultural and fundamental rights, There fore SOYES persuading one of its basic fundamental goals mobilized other youth organizations in Banadir region an occasion where youth organizations come up with a declaration.
The declaration was sent to federal government, clan-elders, Red-cross and Red Crescent and the international community. The objective of the declarations was peace and humanitarian Aid
THE TRANSITIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
1To look into the capacity of civilian casualties and losses the humanitarian catastrophe caused as the result of the war.
2 To stop the war unconditionally through its influence and come up with plans and ways that could lead a solution of the current gravy time.
3 To adjust itself to dialogue and humanitarian aid for the helpless poor innocent civilians who are dying meaningless.
4 To respect and take into consideration the request and declaration of civil society organizations, at same time acknowledge the significance and the role of youth in decision-making process and reconciliation.
TO THE CLAN ELDERS
1They have to campaign for cease-fire unconditionally and strive to solve the conflict through dialogue.
2 To come up with clear strategies to salvage the Somali community especially the current conflicts in the city.
TO THE CIVIL SOCIETY
1To continue their noble work tirelessly and to take action how humanitarian aids should reach the injured and the people who are cut off in the frontiers. The displaced and those who are ill and weak as the result of cholera disease.
2 To give a chance to the Somali youth so that , their initiative, campaign, and decision making ability to spear head the changes towards progressive development in humanitarian aid, peace and stability in the country .
Red-cross &Red crescent
1To bring humanitarian aid on the ground especially in Mogadishu as soon as possible so that the injured and those cut off in the frontiers, displaced people with out shelters those who are ill and weak as a result cholera pandemic in the city and the poor and hungry who are littered in the safer parts in the city especially Medina district in Mogadishu.
2 To use the youth who are willing and ready to collect the injured in the frontiers to the hospitals.
International community
3To put international pressure to the fighting sides to stop their conflict and the fight inside Residential areas, displacement to innocent civilians and the genocide of innocent children, women and youth.
4To convey humanitarian relief urgently to those people injure, and displaced by the heavy shelling in the city.
5To support and work with Somali youth organization so that they (youth ) fulfil their responsibilities and be encouraged to spear-head the solutions and to stop abuse of human rights at same time to lead to the for-fronts in establishing democracy and good –governance policies in the country.
