ACHIEVEMENTS
Since the official establishment of Ray of Light youth group as a community-based organization, we have achieved the following: -
Participated in the creation of awareness campaigns about HIV / AIDS and advocating for positive behavior change in the community
The members have been involved in environmental conservation through planting of trees in selected areas and cleaning of thorny bushes along the roadside.
Building the capacity of the members through organizing of various training workshops where we have been trained in revealing and mobilizing hidden resources like: making avocado soap; Soya beans processing and utilization; production of milking jelly; avocado milk shake and; macadamia nut processing.
Our group has been selected as the best youth group in Kirinyaga District with the only viable project by the social services department during the youth best practice competition.
We have reached a great number of people and especially the youth and as a result 2 more new youth groups have been formed through our networking.
We have been able to identify the poorest of the poor in the community, the vulnerable groups and work hand in hand with them. As such, we have been able to set up two (2) mud houses for the homeless who used to spend their nights in the cold.
