1. Feminization of the Value System for reconstruction of the community and Nation.
Feminine values are frequently defined as fostering peace, collaboration, understanding, flexibility, prosperity, inclusiveness and cultural continuity. Without identifying these qualities exclusively with women, IDT seeks to strengthen such values in the full society to restore balance where patriarchal emphases on hierarchical structures and self-aggrandizement have led to violence, oppression and the depletion of critical human and natural resources. At the same time, by including women at the forefront of societal transformation and ensuring their participation in both separate and integrated planning bodies, PIDT also aims explicitly to empower women.
2. Regeneration of the Environment as a means of sustaining the human race.
PIDT works to develop an environmental consciousness among the people and to promote eco-friendly lifestyles, herbal medicines, and agricultural production methods that are economically viable and sustainable.
3. Value-based Education for continuity of action toward social change.
PIDT seeks to reawaken consciousness of lost values within society, to generate awareness of environmental, social, and gender issues, to encourage respect for cultural heritage through the retention of traditional skills and enterprises, and to reinvigorate holistic and community-based education toward the development of right thinking citizenry, cognizant of their power to affect positive change in the world.
4. Research and Advocacy for peace, sustainability and self-reliance
An integral part of our mission is to draw out the insight that is generated through our experience working with the people and to link this knowledge with the persuaders of civic society to stimulate large-scale change, building bridges between people’s aspirations, actions and movements and developing understanding amongst different sections of the society.

People’s Institute for Development and Training (PIDT) is the the National Lead Organization in India to promote Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) partnership with Youth Service America (YSA). PIDT organized programs in different locations of the country in association with other organizations. As part of the GYSD campaign, we encouraged different organizations including schools to design and plan their own service programs to mobilize, support, and educate the youth as well as the public.
This year, the National Coordination Committee comprised of leading voluntary organizations in the country viz. AADI, AIWC, HIMCON, Iave, JWP, Lead India, NFI, NSS, PIDT, Smile Foundation and UNV to take forward the campaign “I shape the world” amongst youth from 14 – 25 years.
This can be considered as a major opportunity for the youth to volunteer for the development and quotind issues. Associated with International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), PIDT could host XXI IAVE World Conference on "Volunteering for Peace in Multicultural Societies" in 2006. "Youth for Peace and Plurality" being our one major area of focus, we are focussind more on today's youth and so PIDT has keen interest in youth empowerment both in rural and urban areas.
