The IIMHC helps people on all sides of governments and communities confront the horrors of history and their painful memories so they, as leaders motivated by empathy rather than vengeance, can construct a shared trustful, peaceful and productive future. We pursue our goal through advocacy, mediation and training of local partners. We aim to spread our methods of engaging memory and history as positive forces with such far-reaching effect that they become widely implemented as a crucial part of lasting socio-political reconciliation.

International Institute for Mediation and Historical Conciliation is a young organization in a dynamic state of development. We focus on bringing historical perspective into conflict resolution, and we train this approach across the world. Our students are often from college settings. We also welcome interns and volunteers in our organization, who quickly become part of the team. In India and Cambodia, our project often involve student - teacher networks participating on educational and arts based projects geared to the resolution of ethnic, religious, or other identity based conflicts.
