Holy Land Trust (HLT) is a Palestinian not-for-profit organization established in Bethlehem in 1998. Its main goal is to promote and support the Palestinian community in its struggle against the Israeli occupation. Firstly, it seeks to achieve political independence by supporting the Palestinian community in developing nonviolent approaches to resistance with a view to ending the Occupation. Secondly, it looks to assist in building an independent Palestine that is founded on the principles of nonviolence, democracy, respect for human rights and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. In addition, HLT works to build deeper and broader international understanding regarding the situation in the Holy Land in order to strengthen the capacity of all those working for positive change in the region. HLT believes in the important role the international community can play in achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
HLT is divided into three main departments (not including administration, finance and fundraising): Nonviolence Programs, Travel and Encounter and the Palestine News Network. These programs are uniquely grounded in historical, political and religious antecedents - experiences and events that have taken place, or are taking place, in the Holy Land that have shaped human history and are a part of Palestinian culture and tradition.

HLT runs several opportunities for youth empowerment within the local Palestinian community. Children and youths are amongst the most vulnerable population, especially when a country is under occupation as Palestine is. It is with this in mind that HLT has created youth initiatives such as participating in specialist trainings within Palestinian schools (the Peace Building Project), and programs like Remember the Innocents. The Remember the Innocents (RTI) is a project that sought to raise worldwide awareness of how the suffering of innocent children in Palestine continues today as a result of political conflict, investigating which measures can be taken to improve the situation. Through a variety of international events, television broadcasts, websites and on-going programs, RTI offers new hope for the Palestinian children. Palestinian children, like all children, need and deserve the opportunity simply to be children; to grow slowly in a healthy environment; to focus on their education; to develop their talents and mental abilities; and to learn new ways of dealing with violence, conflict and stress at both the macro and micro levels. This can only be done if the children feel trusted and respected because they are treated with care and attention in an environment that is safe, fun and educational.
