Girls Empowerment Network in Malawi strives to create a world where empowered girls and young women are free to exercise their rights and live peacefully in a just, humane and equitable society.
Our mission is to promote and advocate for social and emotional well being of vulnerable and marginalized adolescent girls, teen mother and young women and to influence positive change in the areas of gender, human rights, HIV/Aids and education. We believe that encouraging the leadership of women and the development of their status benefits the entire community.
We strengthen the efforts of girls’ clubs as they teach girls and young women to become socially, economically and politically empowered and self-reliant enabling them to participate fully in their communities and political life.

Girls and women capacity development
We aim at building capacity of vulnerable educationally disadvantaged girls and young women so that they are able to take responsibility of their own lives and we believe that capacity building is a tool that leads to genuine empowerment of girls and women to fully realize their potentials. We offers training in HIV/Aids, peer education, Business management, gender and equality, human rights, self reliance and life skills.
Economic empowerment and self reliant
GENET-Malawi support girls’ initiatives in alternative livelihoods. The program aim is to promote self employment to girls and young women who dropped out of school or completed secondary school but did not go to vocational and technical colleges or university and are not employed. This empowerment enables the woman to deal with gender-based violence in the homes and through the confidence this empowerment gives them, to take on leadership roles in their society.
HIV/Aids and communication
There is generally lack of knowledge on sexual reproductive health including HIV/Aids among educationally disadvantaged girls. We provide an integrated women’s health education with focus in sexuality, reproductive health, HIV/Aids awareness, nutrition, family planning and violence against women and include the design, production and dissemination of culturally appropriate materials. We conduct workshops with girls and young women to share and exchange knowledge and on girls’ need.
we are forming groups of girls all over Malawi, and involve them in the fight against HIV/AIDS and abuse and gender based violence

Networking and Partnership
Youth, particularly girls can become involved through formation of groups which can work together and voice together to challenge attitudes and beliefs which dehumanize girls and put them at risk of HIV/Aids infection.
Girls have opportunity to interact and model positive behaviour and explore on how best they can improve their condition.
We are calling for young women all over the world, those that wish to volunteer their services to come forward and be part of this initiative
