GERAS CAMEROON’s mission is to ensure that humankind lives in harmony with the other living and non-living components of the environment. GERAS CAMEROON works in carrying out massive sensitization on the need for environmental protection, and partnering with like-minded organizations to share ideas. GERAS CAMEROON envisages a World in general, and Cameroon in particular where every human being is conscious about his or her role in environmental protection. GERAS CAMEROON works in three Regions of Cameroon with Primary School Children, Secondary School Students, Government Agencies, other Non Governmental Organizations and the local community in the domain of environmental education and conservation actions.

GERAS CAMEROON went operational in 2013, developed projects on WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue (MSD), and training workshops for networking. GERAS CAMEROON carries out a radio sensitization program on Ocean City Radio (A community Radio based in Kumba, South West Cameroon). GERAS CAMEROON has a track record of experiences working with school children on environmental issues with a strong thematic focus on climate change. GERAS CAMEROON is also building up a Mini-Resource Shelf with printed e-books on Sustainable Development and Capacity Building related themes like Environmental Communication, Project Writing, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Volunteering Policy, Theory of Change, Human Resource Management, Code of Conducts and Ethics of NGO etc. GERAS CAMEROON strives for good partnerships and networking opportunities locally in Cameroon and Internationally. GERAS CAMEROON also teamed with partner environmental organizations to create the Cameroon Environmental Communication Network https://www.facebook.com/groups/cecnetwork/

GERAS currently carries out the following projects which are great opportunities for the youth:
Environmental Passion
This is a radio sensitization program on burning environmental issues carried out over Ocean City Radio, a community radio broadcasting locally in Kumba and its environs on FM 88.5 MHz.
Earth Sciences Week
This program is carried out each second week of October on themes decided upon by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI). It targets Geology Students of High Schools and engages them in activities that help them to discover the earth sciences and strives to increase public awareness of the vital role the geosciences play in the society’s use of resources, resiliency to natural hazards, and interaction with the environment.
Climate Change workshop for Young People.
The first workshop took place in 2015 where 44 children attended. In 2016, we stepped up to 97 pupils and the recorded great success. The project aims at empowering young school children and their teachers with knowledge and skills to enable them tackle climate and related environmental issues in their schools, homes and the community at large.
