ISCHYS was created in 2003 after a large group of young people decided to facilitate the existence of a pure youth NGO in Cyprus, an island divided by the Turkish invasion of 1974 and a place where party politics absorb young people to a harmful extent. The Organisation has managed up to be in a position that through membership, local representation and active evolvement in its work, expresses the Cypriot youth community successfully and to a very influential degree. CYSO ISCHYS is still and will always (constitutionally) be run by democratically elected Cypriot young scientists.

ISCHYS envisages to promote the European ideals across the Cypriot youth and student community, to constructively help towards finding a solution to the Cyprus Problem, to establish a proper youth policy in Cyprus and enhance the current European Youth policy, to resolve all youth-related matters in Cyprus and achieve a new level of inter-cultural, youth-driven, understanding and co-operation both domestically and abroad.

ISCHYS, being a Cypriot NGO is based in the island of Cyprus, in the coastal city of Limassol. ISCHYS also maintains offices in London, U.K., where one of its biggest local delegations is organised.

Our Organisation has in an indeed disproportional amount of time produced a wide range of ventures and activities, extensive work on the student movement and accomplishments on a social, political and educational level. Multiple conferences, seminars, debates and meetings in both Europe and the U.S.A. organised either by ISCHYS or jointly with partner organisations that share the same visions and work towards the same goals. ISCHYS’ theses on many issues relating to political evolvements in Cyprus have been adopted by the people in charge and by the public.
It has collaborated with various organisations across the world, including fellow youth, human rights, conflict resolving, youth policy and many more organisations.

CYSO ISCHYS participates in many international and regional networks, forums and campaigns, while it is also a materializer of the European Commission's Youth Programme and an organisation struggling to provide Cypriot youth with opportunities to develop, enhance and promote their capabilities and knowledge. We are always trying to provide the Cyprus society with European funded activities enhancing the Union’s presence both in Cyprus and in the consciousnesses o Cypriot everywhere.

All of ISCHYS’ activities and work have received a very wide exposure by the Cypriot media and press. Therefore, the opportunities for youth are immense via ISCHYS. Specially set up programs that promote cross-cultural understanding are constantly active to give the chance to youth to carry out the resolving of conlficts in an effective way. For every activity ISCHYS carries out there is an internship for young people and students in particular to get involved and bring out their organisational and inspirational self, gaining experiences and knowledge.
Through the podium of ISCHYS, students and youth can actively express themselves and be heard on a national and European level.
Young Scientists can also be elected and elect to reach higher audiences, lobby intensively and be heard, all via celebrating democracy and moral values.
