Cyber Youth (Botswana) is a youth Information and Communication, Technology (ICT) Society, whose slogan/ motto is “Closing the Digital Divide” in Botswana and our mandate is to create a friendly environment for the youth in ICT. This Society was founded in line with vision 2016 pillar of an Educated, Informed Nation and Prosperous, Productive and Innovative Nation reaching out to under-privileged youth. The society is involved in addressing the digital divide in Botswana. It was founded by ICT inspired youths, Sternly K Simon and Co-founder Yaone Nthebolan. The society was established in 2006.To be an ICT Society of great excellence, high productivity, aiming at motivating the youth socially, physically and mentally; offering the best support to its community at large. Our mission is to demonstrate the Vision 2016’s participation “seabe sa motswana mongwe le mongwe” and to show not only that we are a compassionate just caring nation, but how prosperous, productive and an innovative nation we can be as the youth.

Our core business is to implement different useful strategies, pilot projects, IT Clubs, initiate e-hubs/ centres, ICT gender/ information society/ disability/ elder based councils, disseminate information through different media of communication, educate, diversify the economy, host ICT youth conferences, seminars, forums, collaborations, exhibitions, competitions, eradicate youth unemployment, ICT access points gap, illiteracy, poverty, researching, networking youth across the country, mobilizing youth, promoting use of ICTs and volunteering in ICT related policies implementation towards bridging the digital divide.

Our Objectives

• To implement ICT strategies, initiate an ICT youth environment, eradicate the digital divide and disseminate information through ICT to close the digital divide.
• To invest in ICT infrastructure as a catalyst for development of youth socially, economically, academically, mentally and physically.
• To diversify youth businesses, host ICT conferences/seminars/ workshops/competitions/ forums, network, collaborate, mobilize, represent youth in ICT area and volunteer to ICT policy implementations.

• To promote expansion, innovation and improvement in computer skills in response to the needs of literacy through the provisions of training and research.
• To infuse gender sensitivity in our information society.
• To develop critical abilities of the youth through accessibilities of ICT’s
• To help the youth become responsible members of the society through the discipline of technology
• To co-operate in union with other information societies, companies or other NGO’s in bridging the digital divide.
• To communicate issues of national and global perspective to the information society through media.
• To help/volunteer implement strategies to close the digital divide.

• To reduce technophobia of youth towards ICTs.
• To ensure that more than half the national youth inhabitants have access to ICTs within their reach.
• To advocate/ represent the youth at national and international level in regards to ICT.
