Our Vision is to create, support, and distribute community-driven media for social change.
to encourage independent and alternative media making (video, audio, text, etc).
to build community, online & off, and to make the world a better place.

CITIZENShift is an interactive platform where you can explore social issues through: films, photography, articles, blogs and podcasts. Focusing on a new theme every month, this is a space for you to engage with other activists and creative people and share your media. CITIZENShift is inspired by Challenge for Change - a 1960s experimental National Film Board initiative that involved communities in the documentary filmmaking process.

CitizenShift (http://citizen.nfb.ca) is a social issues website that hosts various media (photography, film, video, text, blogs, podcasts, audio). We are a project of the National Film Board of Canada that produces important documentary films.

We host a different "dossier" around a social issue every month, based around a documentary film/films, and contextualize the issues addressed in the film/video with photographs, text, and other related films.

We then do extensive outreach, and contact relevant audiences to let them know about featured media and subjects of the month in hopes of connecting communities and media makers fighting for the same causes.
