AVS programs include training and consultancy on volunteering, volunteer management, and development of volunteer centers, public and media outreach, production of a resources on volunteering in English and Arabic, a library and archives, and the Learning to CARE Program to help schools and universities develop effective programs in volunteering and community service, both within and outside the curriculum. AVS is a member of the National Committee on Volunteerism, is the National Representative for the International Association for Volunteer Effort, and has been the National Lead Agency for Global Youth Service Days since 2001.

AVS established the Youth Empowerment Council in November 2008. The Council is a group of energetic, responsible, and engaged youth, ages 15-30, who not only want to volunteer, but want to multiply the impact of their efforts by inspiring and mobilizing other youth to volunteer. Their first project is to organize Global Youth Service Days Lebanon 2009 with the support and guidance of AVS.
