Al-Mehran: In Brief

Al-Mehran Welfare Association (AMWA) is a indigenous, non-profit, intermediary organization, that facilitates participatory community development at the grass-roots level in rural Singh, focusing on District Sanghar, Al-Mehran mobilizes communities, facilitates formation of village organization and links them up with resource organization. Al-Mehran provides technical support to the community-based village women’s and man’s organization and helps them address the most pressing issues, build linkages with government institutions, design and implement projects, and develop indigenous human resource base to maintain the systems on self-help basis.

Al-Mehran supports the rural communities in the following areas:
• Social Organization;
• Provide the Education services specially (Girls)
• Human Resources and Gender Development ;
• Natural Resources Management ;
• Savings , Credit and Enterprise Development ;
• Health and Sanitation ;
• Advocacy and Networking ;

Objectives
Organize rural and urban communities (men and women)for undertaking sustainable development initiatives primarily on self-help basis;
Build capacity of the community organizations to make them sustainable ;
Undertake participatory development programmes for poverty alleviation and improvement of quality of life of the poor people;
Facilitate women participation in development activities and promote their socio-economic empowerment;
Promote conservation of natural resources and improve environment ;
Engage in advocacy and networking for addressing social issues of the society;
Cooperate with national and international development organization for poverty alleviation and sustainable development;
Promote the culture of sustainable development;
