The main aims and the objectives of AKTI, are:
1. Collect information on coastal and other environmental issues
2. Enforce the exchange of information and experiences on scientific practices concerning the environment
3. Promote sustainable development principles and environmental conscience
4. Work with environmental problems through projects, applied research, environmental education
5. Operate a library dedicated on coastal and other environmental matters
6. Work together with local communities. Include end-users throughout the whole process of applied research and generally projects.
7. Networking with other similar organizations regional, European and world wide.
