The African Regional Youth Initiative Zimbabwe(ARYIZim) is dedicated to empowering and providing tools to African youth and community-based organizations fighting HIV/AIDS at the local, national, and regional levels. Our efforts aim to function as a cohesive force between diverse groups, facilitating discussion, cooperation, and understanding. We seek to unite youth and community-based initiatives addressing social, political, and .economic injustices. It is with this at the forefront of our thinking, that we make the sharing of resources with other youth and professional organizations our number one priority. The African Regional Youth Initiative Zimbabwe seeks to build on lessons learned in the field, in an effort to develop multifaceted approaches to sustainable development and disseminate comprehensive and effective program models to be used by partner organizations, future activists, and governments alike.

The ARYIZim network reaches beyond discussion to educate and empower individuals and communities, who are most marginalized by their circumstances and silenced by physical, emotional, and cultural barriers. Our focus is on direct community engagement, supporting mechanisms that ensure program and relationship sustainability, and above all, sharing experiences and learning from each other in a cooperative and nurturing environment. COMMUNITY AIDS FORUMS
Community AIDS Forums are aimed at empowering young people as well as adults to engage in dialogue and discourse over issues that relate to HIV and AIDS, thereby breaking the barrier of myth and secrecy which often surround the disease. Community Forums will bring about Community based initiatives and practical solutions to HIV/AIDS which are unique to each community and its special needs. Community AIDS Forums also empower community members to have pride and ownership of the project, thus generating enthusiasm in solving community problems related to HIV and AIDS.

RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION
Research is carried out at community level in order to expose the ever changing trends in issues relating to HIV/AIDS. The research is carried out by youths and is aimed at proffering solutions and practical recommendations that will inform policy makers, legislators and community leaders in addressing HIV/AIDS In holistic manner that suits community environment.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND LEADERSHIP TRAININGS
True empowerment comes only when members of the community have a control and stake in economic resources. With this in mind we train youths to become entrepreneurs in various

Economic areas which suit their environments.

TRAINING WORKSHOPS
We also conduct a series of trainings on Human Rights, Democracy and good governance, Disease prevention and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights.

TRAINING OF TRAINERS / PEER EDUCATORS WORKSHOPS
The ARYI also trains youths so that they can rotationally train each other. This encourages information dissemination and information sharing amongst young people who will have developed confidence in themselves. This creates a multiplier effect and ensures that knowledge on various issues such as HIV/AIDS is spread to as many people as possible.
In effecting our programmatic activities the ARYI makes use of a number of lobby and advocacy tools, such as; Networking, Position Papers, Pamphlets, Press conferences, International and regional conferences, submission of alternative policy papers and Raising Public Awareness

Youth are the owners of the African Regional Youth Initiative as they are involved in all processes of programming, implementation and evaluation and monitoring of all our projects. The entire Secretariat of ARYIZim is made up of young people who are sensitive to the needs of youths as they themselves are also youths.

The entire process of carrying out a project is done by youths. Identification and analysis of problems involves the intended beneficiaries to ensure maximum benefit to them. Youths have a lot to benefit from conducting activities with ARYIZim. They are able to improve themselves and their communities through taking part in oir activities.
