We operate in cooperation with the the University of Alberta and the ALS Society of Alberta. There is an ALS Society in every province. Provincial societies develop local chapters and support groups and provide direct support to people with ALS and their families and caregivers. They also offer information and referrals, support for those affected by ALS, manage equipment programs, engage in advocacy and most importantly FUND RESEARCH FOR A CURE.

Action ALS is an ALS interest group at the University of Alberta supporting the education and awareness of ALS. Awareness is raised by tabling, pamphlets, information seminars that we hold and presentations. Our group is aimed at improving awareness on and off campus while generating finances for the cure of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a fatal neurodegenerative disease affecting a significant number of people.

We hold events throughout the year to raise money for ALS. Also we hold educational presentations/seminars to raise awareness.

Action ALS will be hosting a Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction for the evening of February 14, 2008. The event is to be held in Dinwoodie Lounge, and tickets will be sold for $15 in advance. Our goal is to sell 500 tickets to the event; each ticket will be paired with a brochure of the event outlining schedule, bachelor/bachelorette profiles, available packages and sponsors. Ticket price includes admission, food and beverage, bidding paddle and entertainment.Tickets can be bought at ticketmaster.
