In recognition of the need for out-of-school education for young people, the Korea UNESCO Youth Centre was established by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU) in 1977. It developed from a long series of youth activities dating back to 1965, when the Commission launched its youth activities in accordance with the recommendation of the 13th UNESCO General Conference held in Grenoble, France.
From 1998, the Korea Unesco Youth Centre has changed into the Youth Unit and has focused on developing and disseminating a new concept of youth in Korean society through its extensive youth activities such as International Youth Camp, development of International Voluntary Services, Youth Information Service and publication of youth-related materials and club activity manual.
Youth Team aims at
- installing Korean youth with the spirit of mutual understanding, cooperation, and peace.
- contributing to the development of youth at the national, regional and international levels with a firm belief in the philosophy : of 'in partnership with youth'.
