“To use the arts and intercultural learning in order to inspire a culture of peace and hope and educate for non-violent alternatives to create a sustainable, equitable, and peaceful society so that by 2012 southern Africa will be known as a region that hosts and develops its own major festivals and events around tolerance and peace and nurtures local talent and creativity for the creation of a peaceful and tolerant society that can see all achieve their maximum economic and community benefits”.

The involvement of young people, artists and other stakeholders in the Youth Peace Network - Southern Africa aims to achieve the following outcomes:
Objectives:
* Use creative ways such as music and arts fesitvals, social media and ICT’s to open sustained dialogue on democracy, peace and tolerance issues as a way of promoting southern African young people’s interest and positive participation in governance.
* Youth focused long-term regional advocacy on global and local politico-social issues impacting on southern African communities for reduction in the high prevalence of violence and intolerance in our region.
* Guide young artists’ and young activists creativity to generate strategic options and leverage their influence as celebrities to respond to the challenges of democracy, peace, governance processes,building tolerance and peace, and break the silence about intolerance and violence within the young Arts Community
* Offer a platform where stakeholders can begin to dialogue with communities, about issues such as xenophobia, democracy, political violence, gender equality and gender based violence, human rights, discrimination etc.
