The World YWCA is a global network of women leading social and economic change in 125 countries worldwide and has been at the forefront of raising the status of women since it was founded in 1855.

YWCA work is inspired by Christian principles and a commitment to women’s full and equal participation in society. It is a volunteer membership movement, inclusive of women from many faiths, backgrounds and cultures.

The World YWCA constitution required 25% of it's leadership to be made up of young women 30 yrs old and under. The World YWCA Young Women’s Internship Programme is intended to increase the number of globally experienced and trained leaders who will return to their associations to share their experiences and learning with as well as provide leadership for increased and improved understanding of what the world movement is all about. Young women candidates between the ages of 22-30 years endorsed by their national association are invited to apply.
