The World Partnership Walk embodies the spirit of volunteerism. Born from the innovation and verve of a group of committed volunteers from Vancouver’s Ismaili Women’s Organization Committee, the Walk took its first strides in 1985.
Driven and determined, the group persuaded nearly 1, 000 walkers to don their sneakers for the fight against global poverty. Almost a quarter of a century later, the passion and commitment of these founding members lives on through the thousands of volunteers in 9 cities across Canada that work tirelessly to mobilize their communities. The Walk generates vital support for AKFC’s programming, which makes it an important part of our Canadian identity and roots.

The World Partnership Walk is Canada's largest annual event dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight global poverty.
Organized by volunteers in nine cities across the country, the Walk attracts tens of thousands of Canadians united in a common effort to alleviate global poverty.
All funds raised (100%) go directly to international development initiatives. Not one cent is spent on administration.
Funds raised by the Walk help AKFC to leverage additional support from major donors like the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
