Problem
The public opinion and market research industry exists to find out who people are, what they think, and where they are likely to spend their money. But the one question it is unable to answer is also the most important: What do people care about? Public opinion research is conducted in a top down manner and the questions asked are necessarily those of interest to the pollster, not the respondent. Such a method can do no more than scratch the surface of public opinion, and will certainly never be able to create the centralized data resource that consumers demand in the age of Google and Wikipedia.
Our Solution
The Urtak method is simple. First, we allow any user to ask any question. Our pool of questions is made up of questions that people really care about. Second, the user must answer questions one at at time, in a random order. This practically eliminates the problem of self-selection which has plagued online polls. Third, our questions all must be answered either yes, no, or don't care. This standardizes the process and simplifies the results. Furthermore, questions that are not cared about get asked less, which guarantees a high quality stream of questions. Finally, we will make our technology available so that anyone can create their own urtak, around a topic of their choice, allowing us to cast the widest possible net.

We are working with schools, organizations, and groups to promote democracy.
