Our Vision
Every child. Every oppotunity. No exceptions.
Our Mission
To mobilize and empower Canadians to invest in the positive transformation of every child's future.
UNICEF is resolute in our efforts to influence change in attitudes and decisions affecting children in Canada and globally. The challenges facing children exceed the capacity of any single organization – by far. That is why your support is invaluable. Only with your help – whether you send letters or make regular donations – can we build a world fit for children.

UNICEF is the world's leading child-focused humanitarian and development agency. Through innovative programs and advocacy work, we save children's lives and secure their rights in virtually every country. Our global reach, unparalleled influence on policymakers, and diverse partnerships make us an instrumental force in shaping a world in which no child dies of a preventable cause. UNICEF is supported by voluntary donations and helps all children, regardless of race, religion or politics.
Undaunted by war, disaster, disease and logistical complexity, UNICEF works to ensure that all children can grow up safe, healthy and educated; and protected against violence, abuse and discrimination. Our immunization programs alone save millions of lives. We support local, sustainable solutions and partnerships that help children survive and thrive, and respond swiftly with life-saving aid in times of disaster.
The only organization named in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as a source of expertise for government, UNICEF has exceptional access to those whose decisions impact children’s survival and quality of life. We are the World’s advocate for children and their rights.

Sustainable Change Requires Sustainable Funding!
Take part in UNICEF Canada’s 2010 Student Challenge – a fundraising challenge with the opportunity to travel with UNICEF to Panama!
We are challenging university and college students in Ontario to help us find people who understand that on-going support allows UNICEF to consistently reach the children most at risk and deliver help where it will do the most good. We refer to these people as Global Parents, who commit to donating automatically each month, which is one of the most powerful ways to help children.
The Opportunity:
The leading two teams will have the opportunity to go on an all-expense paid trip to Panama during reading week (February 2011) to see UNICEF’s work in action.
The Challenge:
As the Student Challenge Team Leader your task is to make a team of fellow students (four people per team total) to come up with creative ways to tell friends, family, colleagues or anyone else about the importance of becoming a Global Parent. This could be through personal events, on-line activity, public outreach – it’s all up to you! The team goal is to sign up the most Global Parents, who will give monthly to UNICEF Canada.
To sign up your team click here: www.unicef.ca/studentchallenge
The Requirements:
• All team members must be 18+ years old and be a student of a College of University in Ontario
• Sign up your team (of maximum four) by October 12th.
• At least one person per team must attend a UNICEF Canada training session on October 16th for full details and fundraising resources
• Fundraising activities will be from October 16th to November 15th.
For more details and information please call us at 416 482 4444 x8833 or email us at youthinaction@unicef.ca.
Please pass along to anyone who would be interested in this opportunity!
