The organization currently has two programs:
>>>Act NOW! National Playwriting Competition
We passionately believe in the power of arts in creating change. Through this playwriting competition, we challenge students ages 12 - 19 to evaluate the issues facing our environment, devise solutions, and to raise awareness about them with a splash of creativity.
Our outreach partners include the David Suzuki Foundation, Sierra Youth Coalition, Otesha, Environmental Youth Alliance, and the Let's Talk Science Partnership Program. In addition to cash awards and recognition, winning plays will be performed across the country.
>>>NOW What? Conferences
Each involving more than 200 grades fives to sevens from different schools, these day-long conferences not only introduced participants to important urban sustainability issues through interactive workshops, but also facilitated a forum for them to explore possible solutions. The conferences presented sustainability from a myriad of angles ranging from government energy policy, urban planning, to wildlife coexistence. We also challenged participants to design machines made of garbage materials that can solve environmental problems and present their product in a 1-minute advertisement. Through competitions such as this, children meet new friends, build confidence and learn from one another with a splash of creativity and imagination.
Teachers, students, and volunteers have remarked that the conference made them pay more attention to the environmental impact of their actions, many of whom inspired to start new initiatives at their schools.
