Here are the programs and services we offer:
Advocacy and Poverty Law:
Informs people of their rights and responsibilities, explores options for action, helps decision making and supports access to programs and services. Orientation, information and application assistance for Income Security programs including income tax refunds and housing. Provides support in meetings and at hearings.
Prenatal Nutrition Program and Healthy Baby Club:
Nutritional, pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting support for pregnant women and new parents with children up to one years of age. Information sessions and fun, active, social activities including a cooking club, baby welcoming parties with gift draws. Free transportation is provided.
Family Support Program and Healthy Toddler Club:
Support for parents and children facing challenges. Fun, family-oriented activities and information sessions on a variety of topics, including nutrition, child development and parenting. Kitchen collective with take home meals and recipes, respite care. Free transportation is provided.
YouthNet and T.A.M.I.:
Mental health promotion and intervention services developed and delivered by youth, for youth. Facilitated focus groups provide a safe place for us to explore our world view as it relates to mental health, mental illnesses and coping with stress. T.A.M.I. presentations to high school aged youth are designed to increase awareness of mental illness and decrease stereotypes that affect people with mental illness.
New Canadian and Ethno-cultural Services:
Familiarizes new Canadians with this country and supports their transition into the community. Assists with applications to immigration and offers information on a variety of topics, English language development and skill building opportunities.
Multi-cultural activities for families and for women, men, youth and children including the Kitchen Collective and Mosiac Youth Group.
Inuit Specific Services:
On-site services culturally relevant programs and services for Inuit and Inuvialuit are offered through a partnership with the Yellowknife Inuit Katujjiqatigiit.
Women’s Emergency Shelter:
In partnership with a city-wide housing coalition, provides emergency housing for women who are homeless and are not with partners and do not have children with them. 24-hour Drop-in.
Community Health Clinic & Sexual Health Clinic:
Every Tuesday, people seeking medical attention or health information can access the Clinic offered through a partnership with the Great Slave Community Health Care Clinic. Every Thursday the Public Health Nurse is in for Sexual Health services. Drop-in only and first come, first serve.
Licensed Daycare:
Fully licensed, quality day care with 20 spaces for children aged 12 months up to 5 years old.
Fees:
Full Time (12 - 35 months old) $32.00/ day
Full Time (3 – 5 years old) $27.00/ day
Half Time (3 – 5 year old) $13.50/ half day
Free respite care services by appointment only.
Girls Night Out:
Youth-directed information sessions and activity nights for young adults. Movies, pizzas, quizzes. Build self-esteem, learn new skills and just have fun!

The Centre for Northern Families will support youth in any way they can. Please contact us to see if there is something we can do for you. If we cannot help you, we will direct you in the right direction.
Young families are encouraged to participate in the family support programs (Healthy Baby and Healthy Toddler Clubs).
Youth can access the drop-in medical and sexual health clinics.
Mosaic is a drop-in program for Youth who have immigrated from another country. Make friends and have fun every Thursday night from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Side Door Youth Centre.
Youth Net is a youth run and youth led mental health promotion and intervention program with the main objective of providing a safe forum for young people to express, explore and discuss their views and concerns about mental health, mental illnesses and how to cope with stress.
Youth are welcome to access all of our programs and services without restrictions expect for the Emergency Shelter; the Emergency Shelter is only available to women 19 years or older.
