Teach a Man to Fish envisages a world free from the extremes of absolute poverty. One in which all individuals are able to enjoy the empowering benefits of an education that meets their needs and aspirations in life. Our mission is to broaden access for the poor to a high quality education combining vocational training and entrepreneurship by supporting institutions working in this field to increase their financial self-sufficiency.

At its simplest, a Self-Sufficient School is one which generates enough income to cover the costs of providing a quality education to its students. Keeping income generation as the goal, we work on refining skills that help our students to deliver a product or service of marketable quality - from honey production to running a hotel.

Annually, we arrange volunteer placements in schools all over the world, helping to bring much needed skills to local communities, and offering volunteers a chance to immerse themselves in local culture for a unique life experience.

Annually, we arrange volunteer placements in schools all over the world, helping to bring much needed skills to local communities, and offering volunteers a chance to immerse themselves in local culture for a unique life experience.
Our volunteers get involved with creating school businesses, picking up new skills, and helping with regular educational activities. Schools are located in Bolivia, Paraguay, and South Africa, and we currently have projects running in Bolivia, Nicaragua, Kenya, Uganda, Paraguay, and South Africa.
Teach A Man to Fish is currently seeking 2 volunteers for on ongoing project starting in summer '09, within a rural secondary school in Bolivia. More details can be found on the website.
