Education, discovery, adventure, mentoring and youth empowerment are some of the key elements of each Students on Ice expedition. Over the years, the organization has assembled an impressive team of Arctic and Antarctic scientists, veteran expedition experts, and teacher-chaperones. With this expedition team, Students on Ice leads youth on expeditions to the coolest places on earth, the Arctic and Antarctica. Our mission is to ensure that students come away from these expeditions with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Polar Regions, and the global ecosystem.

Since 1999, Students on Ice (SOI) has been organizing annual educational expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic for high school students. Its mandate is to provide students from around the world with inspiring educational opportunities at the ends of the earth, and in doing so, help them foster a new understanding and respect for the planet and for each other. To date, over 700 students, teachers and scientists from 25 countries have participated in this unique program.

Between 2007 and 2009, Students on Ice will lead 6 youth expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. These expeditions have been endorsed by the International Polar Year Joint Committee as a prominent and valued component of the IPY program, and represent one of the largest Education and Outreach...

Between 2007 and 2009, Students on Ice will lead 6 youth expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. These expeditions have been endorsed by the International Polar Year Joint Committee as a prominent and valued component of the IPY program, and represent one of the largest Education and Outreach initiatives in Canada and the World for the International Polar Year 2007-2009. These expeditions are available for youth ages 14-19 from around the world.
