The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) supports community-based organizations that are turning the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa. They provide care to women who are ill and struggling to survive; assist orphans and other AIDS affected children; reach heroic grandmothers who almost single-handedly care for their orphan grandchildren; and sustain associations of people living with HIV and AIDS. Since 2003, SLF has supported hundreds of community-level initiatives in 15 countries.

The Foundation has been fortunate to host a number of dedicated and hardworking volunteers who work at the Foundation office and, on occasion, staff Foundation tables at events. We are overwhelmed by, and deeply grateful for, these acts of generosity.
When we established the Stephen Lewis Foundation in March 2003, we hoped to provide support to a few innovative and terrifically hard-working projects in countries hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. Since then, we have funded over 300 projects in 15 countries. In addition, we have expanded our mandate to include the vital group of grandmothers in Africa who are struggling with resilience and courage to support the ever-growing population of children orphaned by AIDS and nurture them into the future.
