Every year SPW (Students Partnership Worldwide) recruits and trains over 600 volunteers aged 18-28 to work on Health Education and Community Resource Programs in rural parts of India, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Over half of our volunteers come from the countries we work in. Together, they work in rural schools and communities, addressing the underlying causes of poverty and illness. HIV/AIDS, Malaria, water borne disease and environmental degradation are examples of issues addressed by volunteers. They raise awareness about these issues in a way that is accessible to young people - by using dance, song, sport, debating, drama and other participatory activities.
