We are Soley Ini. Our mission is to create a network of youth community centers in Site Soley, Port-au-Prince. We are dedicating the project towards promoting desperately needed educational and cultural opportunities. These centers will serve as coordinating spaces for local youths directed towards development opportunities and productive reflections. In building this network of youth community centers, we hope to stimulate local and national community reintegration, non-violent conflict transformation, and civic engagement. We begin by establishing three youth centers in Site Soley. But we imagine a future integrative network, expanding throughout the surrounding Port-au-Prince slum communities, Gonaives, nationally, and to the Dominican Republic.

The youth centers offer access to educational opportunities (remedial education programs, physical and virtual library access, seminars, mentoring, language training, vocational training, sexual and health education), a safe youth community space for reflections and cooperative initiatives, a multi-purpose cultural space (for music, art, and poetry creation and presentation), and a place to facilitate local exchanges across divided territories and intercultural exchanges with US, Haitian, Dominican and other Latin American university students.
