RIVER is looking for volunteers with a variety of skills, people with an interest in helping reduce HIV/AIDS and chronic poverty in rural Africa. Your energy, knowledge, expertise, active participation and time will give sick, chronically poor people a chance to move forward with assured hope, as you teach, mentor, train, help and uplift some of the most underprivileged people in Africa.
RIVER is committed to making a difference to lives of poor rural communities. The volunteer projects that RIVER is involved with focus on improving skills, education, facilitating medical services via a mobile clinic initiative, training community support workers and bolstering free HIV/AIDS testing and treatment in poor rural communities where there is a great need of resources, funding and manpower. As a volunteer, we hope you will get fully absorbed in the lives of the rural people you will be supporting, from arranging HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, life skills and much more.
We endeavour for this experience to be a “two-way process”, we hope you as a volunteer will gain and learn as much from the people as they will from you.
As a volunteer on our flagship programme you will have the opportunity to experience the continent and its people beyond the traditional tourist trails. Your involvement can inspire others to improve and sustain livelihoods
