In the aftermath of Nargis, the group who would later go on to establish Radanar Ayar used their own resources to help affected farmers in the cyclone-devastated areas. These include rice millers and rice traders who are also private philanthropists.
RADANAR AYAR was first founded as a sister-organisation of Myanmar Rice Industry Association. It subsequently registered as a not-for-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-partisan organisation in 2010. Radanar Ayar works in the thematic areas of Agricultural Livelihoods and Rural Poverty Reduction. Radanar Ayar is active in all eight priorities of the Government of the Republic of Union of Myanmar’s Eight Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation Plan, which is set in the areas of;
1. Development of agricultural productivity
2. Development of livestock breeding and fisheries
3. Development of rural small-scale productivity
4. Development of micro-saving and credit associations
5. Development of cooperative tasks
6. Development of rural socio-economy
7. Rural energy
8. Environmental conservation

The Radanar Ayar Association for the Rural Development, hereafter Radanar Ayar Association is envisaged as being a know- how transfer platform for capacity enhancement and empowerment of rural people to capable their lives refers to the Quality-of-Lives. Radanar Ayar Association is a local civilian network that works together based on volunteer spirits and commitment to rural poverty alleviation and of professionals nature of their education and professional activity. Due to our local partners (currently we have partners in –country wide approach) and our current search for regional representatives we plan from the start to give it a global reach near future.
Radanar Ayar serves as a platform for rural development agent for rural peoples and both interrelated to livelihoods network and livelihoods support groups to share their opinions, grow knowledge and skills and foster innovation towards a more sustainable rural development that reduce the 70% of rural poor people . Radanar Ayar’s Mission has four strategic objectives:
1) To facilitate knowledge sharing between rural people especially for young social change makers experienced professionals willing to contribute to international and local development regardless of age, nationality, profession;
2) To empower rural people by enhancing the acquisition of skills so that they can contribute better and more actively to the development of local communities on one side and to relate better with local, regional and national authorities in order to increase youth participation in the decision making process;
3) To create synergies in regards to rural and national development by spreading knowledge, information, best practices;
4) T o create networks in order to promote capacity enhancements through a capacity building process by developing creative synergies between different stakeholder groups in rural development including research, academia, NGOs, CBOs, public authorities (local and national) and private sector organizations.
