Nigerian Youth Initiative, or NYI, is an international non-profit organization working to improve youth development in Nigeria. Our mission is to inspire purpose and to empower the minds of Nigerian youths. NYI works to empower young Nigerians by providing them with relevant training, mentor-ship, support and networks necessary to enable them contribute positively to the economic, social and political development of the nation. NYI collaborates with established organizations across the globe to tackle youth development issues within Nigeria. We organize regular seminars and conferences at strategic locations around the globe for the sole purpose of providing the Nigerian youth with necessary platforms to debate critical issues relating to social, economic and political developments in Nigeria.

Youth Mentoring

NYI-Mentoring is an initiative of the Nigerian Youth Initiative to offer school-based mentoring to public secondary schools across Nigeria. The program matches mentors with young Nigerians, typically between the ages of 14 and 19 in senior-secondary schools across the country.

NYI-Mentoring gives the young Nigerians involved access to role models who can offer advice, guidance and encouragement focused around career development.

The correspondence between the mentors and their mentees will be one-to-one and via email. As part of the program, we will collaborate with other agencies that have interesting activities and occasionally invite noteworthy people to speak at random sessions and initiate more of the types of conversations we want our mentors and mentees to have.

Our mentors are Nigerians at home and abroad who have distinguished themselves in their individual fields of endeavour both professionally and academically. We will also collaborate with relevant organizations to provide training and necessary support for the mentors. Mentors who volunteer get the chance to grow on both an individual and professional level and participating organizations can benefit from having the opportunity to increase local community ties within Nigeria.
