Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) will function as the primary community hub for film-related practices. This not-for-profit, artist-run center will facilitate the sustainability and production of celluloid works on a local, national and international level.
Our Values:
- Diversity in all its manifestations, including race, language, gender, social class, age and level of experience as a filmmaker
- Affordable access to services and programs that minimize economic barriers to working in film
- The materiality and technology of working with celluloid as a medium
- Serving as a community hub for filmmakers
- Providing quality service to an engaged and participatory membership

LIFT is a member-driven non-profit organization that provides affordable access to equipment, education and space for those who want to make films, out of a passion for, and commitment to, the practice of filmmaking on celluloid.
Workshops:
LIFT holds three rounds of workshops every year: fall, winter and spring/summer. LIFT's workshop series provides hands-on practical film training for members and non-members alike. Please see our website for more information on the courses offered during the next workshop series.

LIFT welcomes inquiries from community groups, nonprofit organizations and others interested in partnering on special training projects and community initiatives. Please call to arrange a meeting with the Workshop Coordinator.
Opportunities for Youth:
LIFT has spearheaded several filmmaking initiatives that engage youth from various communities in Toronto. Currently LIFT is developing a workshop curriculum geared towards youth who wish to advance their filmmaking knowledge and skills. This workshop will likely begin in 2009.
