The Kenya Youth Voice and Empowerment Organisation(KYVEO) is a Non- Governmental organisations that seeks to give the Kenyan youth a voice in decision making processes in matters that affect their lives and creating effective opportunities to empower them. Our main purpose is to work towards the implementation of the Kenya National Youth Policy and the World Programme of Action For Youth.



Young people today are facing many challenges and problems particular to them and while they aspire to full participation in the life of society, their voices tend to be marginalized. Young people hold the key to developing strong, healthy and caring communities across Kenya and in their professional futures will be entrusted to lead all aspects of society.



The problems facing Kenyan youth, challenge not only today’s society, but future generations as well. It is therefore essential that youth be given a role and a voice in seeking to address these challenges. It is imperative for young people’s leadership today and for Kenya’s future, that we develop young people’s voices by providing every young person with channels to express themselves.

The Kenya Youth Voice and Empowerment Organization will achieve its mission through engaging in effective Kenyan Youth Representation.We will be having Youth Representatives, aged 18-30, in all the Kenyan Counties.Youth Representatives need to be culturally sensitive and be able to represent the diversity of young people. Their main work will be working towards the implementation of the Kenyan National Youth Policy in their County and supporting the Organization's and youth related Government Programmes and Projects. More mandate will be defined.



We are also in the process of lobbying for a an official National Youth Representative who will be included in the National Delegation to the UN General Assembly(UNGA). The basic premise behind the proposal is to have a young person aged 18-24 as a delegate in the Kenya’s mission to attend the General Assembly on behalf of the Kenyan government and young people in the Kenya. The proposal has been presented to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for consideration and we also hope to get the support of the Kenya National Youth Council. This proposal is in partnership with the United Nations Youth Association- Kenya Chapter.

We highly support youth participation and representation and make it our first priority because it leads to more inclusive and effective policy and programmatic responses to the problems facing young people such as unemployment, HIV/AIDS armed conflict and gender imbalances. By harnessing young people’s energy into a positive movement, the whole society stands to gain.
