• The NGO “Initiative Solidarische Welt Ilmenau – ISWI” was founded to foster understanding among nations and international attitude. The ISWI 2007 will be the 8th platform for intercultural meetings and exchange. Young people with different cultural backgrounds will get to know each other and present their points of view. The intercultural dialog shall improve tolerance and open mindedness among guests and inhabitants. With this 8th ISWI we want to widen this platform and set new impulses.
• Our motto “time to think” will gather young people of different political descent to express their personal opinion. Present and global problems will be analysed in conversations and discussions about the main topic “education“ from many different positions. The developed approaches will be spreads by participants in their home countries and shall enter local policy as positive push.
• With this conference we want to contribute to degradation of prejudices and xenophobia, advance the exchange among cultures and develop the spread of liberal minds. The intercultural meeting shall allow mutual understanding and relieve conflicts.
• For everybody participating rises the chance to broaden his/her horizon and make international friends. By courtesy of our host programme guests and inhabitants meet very close.

Organizing ISWI 2007:
The abbreviation ISWI stands for International Student Week in Ilmenau. The festival is open for students of all faculties from all over the world. With approximately 300 participants it is the largest international student festival in Germany. The aim of ISWI is to overcome global differences through personal contacts and mutual understanding. ISWI 2003 should be a meeting platform for young people from different culture areas to get to know each other and discuss their points of view. This further fosters tolerance and understanding of others.
Furthermore we want to present Germany as a cosmopolitan and hospitable country and thereby set a clear sign against racism and xenophobia.
Our convention has taken place 7 times up to now.
Every conventions so far has been a big success: Between 300 and 400 young people of different religions and cultural backgrounds, sometimes even "enemies", came closer and often became friends.
