Students are the heart of our school. The students' voices and opinions are responsible for the school's structure and policies. The circle is the forum where students express their opinions, and participate in the operation of the school. Each school day begins and ends with a circle. Because the school is geared to meet the needs of its students, it is critical to operations that students attend and take part in the morning and afternoon circles. To meet this requirement and to graduate from high school students are expected attend on a regular basis. This usually involves a process of nurturing, flexibility, and for some, a few tries.

At Inner City High School, we believe in flexibility!

- 10 week semesters enable you to begin your schooling at different times throughout the year: September, mid-November, February, mid-April, July (summer semester)

- each semester begins with an orientation week which prepares you for classes and your participation in the school

And we offer students...

- small classes, with friendly and accepting students
- patient and understanding teaching and support staff
- bridging courses for those who have not completed, or who have not enjoyed high school
- optional courses in skill-building to prepare students for high school diploma exams, & university
- preparation for U of A, Grant MacEwan, N.A.I.T, and other post-secondary schools
- opportunities to participate in activities such as kayaking, wall climbing, and other adventure based activities!
