Indigenous Festivals of Australia Ltd is a non-profit organisation with the following aims:

* To decrease antisocial norms and favourable attitudes toward alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and to help young people make informed decisions about their use;

*To teach in a positive reinforcing way that excellence is achieved through application of creativity, hard work, enthusiasm and cooperation;

* To mobilise the mediums of television, radio and newspapers to help reduce the use or consumption of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by 10 - 18 year old males and females and promote positive lifestyles to the community at large;

* To encourage youth to develop responsible attitudes to alcohol consumption, and to avoid tobacco and other drug use by reducing the sense of glamour and excitement associated with tobacco, alcohol and other drug use, and by demonstrating the benefits of an exciting and "drug free" lifestyle;

* To encourage and assist adults in setting positive examples of decision-making in relation to tobacco, alcohol and drug use.
To increase awareness of alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues in the communities and schools.

* To recognise that students are the focus of the event and that fairness and integrity are integral to having fun;
To show young people that a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle requires positive choices and personal decisions;

* To encourage young people to live healthy lifestyles, free from alcohol, tobacco and other drug use by delivering substance abuse prevention messages and activities to youth, teachers, parents and communities;

* To provide the opportunity for students in rural and remote areas to come together and meet students from other remote and regional areas;

* To provide an opportunity for students in rural and remote areas to meet and learn from sporting personalities;

* To contribute to the reconciliation process both within indigenous communities and between all Australians;

* To provide the opportunity for young people to learn about the many elements of producing and performing in a full scale production in a professional and positive environment;

* To help improve relations with academic staff;

* To help students learn to acknowledge each other as individuals and respect their differences.

* To increase social education and reinforce positive benefits such as improved self-esteem, self-concept, bonding to school, self-efficacy, confidence, cooperation, social skills, self-control and communication skills.

* To increase general education skills such as goal setting, problem solving, team work, choreography, dance and music appreciation.

* To increase the awareness of job opportunities which exist;

The Croc Festival is an innovative event that builds partnerships in regional and remote communities by celebrating youth culture. Involving young indigenous & non-indigenous Australians in visual and performing arts, sports clinics, careers markets in a 100 per cent drug and alcohol free environment the festivals promote health, education and employment in a spirit of reconciliation.
