IMPACT Charity Trust began as IMPACT Youth in April 2010. It was a vision sparked out of a desire to engage the youth in the community through music and help them to develop their innate potential. Since music allows people to engage with each other and cuts across all boundaries, it seemed the most effective means to achieve this objective. In Africa, drumming is a way of bringing people together within a community, and to inform the community of whatever is happening as a form of ‘Breaking News'.
The Aim High for Disabled Children’s (AHDC) Project. The main aim for this project is to use music as a form of therapy for children between the ages of 5 – 16 as well as give their parents/carers at least a two-hour break from their caring duties. Its other focus is to help disabled children and young people to be involved in positive activities that will enable them to interact with other able-bodied children and young people.
Adinkra Art Project - The Adinkra Art workshops will be workshops which enhances the creativity of children and young people in general and is an activity that will be enjoyed by the whole family as more than 60 different symbols, each with it’s own name and meaning, and interesting stories behind them will be used to produce diverse forms of crafts such as greeting cards, badges, t-shirts, cloths, murals, etc, both for sale to raise funds for the organisations projects and for use by the participants.
There are other projects such as the 'Digital Inclusion' project coming up which seeks to engage young people to assist older people in the community to learn more about using the internet and computers to improve the quality of their day to day lives.
