Who are we?
We are innovative social change entrepreneurs using internet technologies to make the dreams of learning English come true for anyone, anywhere.
We are teachers, coaches, encouragers, and advocates for millions of children and youth with unfulfilled dreams of learning English.
We provide a way out of poverty and a gateway to the future for non-English speakers with a passion for a better life.
Whom do we serve?
We serve people in developing nations and US immigrant population centers who deeply want to learn English but who, without an innovative approach, are not able to overcome traditional barriers of access, cost, time, and location.
How are we different?
By partnering with other nonprofits to build online language classrooms in poor neighborhoods, IWLE opens the door to learning English in the student’s backyard, just a step and a click away. Our approach is an innovative combination of technology and hands-on support. First IWLE plugs English language learners into a self-paced software platform that they can log into anytime. Then we provide each student with access to a support network of virtual teachers and coaches to help with their learning. By matching resource partners with under-resourced neighborhoods we can offer the best in English learning to the some of the world’s poorest young people.
What is our promise to funders, students, and the global community?
Our promise to funders is accountability and impact. To our students we promise personal growth and achievement. And to the global community we promise engagement in positive social change and sustainable development.
