The zebra as a symbol can represent a wholeness of duality – the black and white appearance as a part of one living reality. Hence, these art workshops have been named: ‘Healing The Zebra’.
The work that is done here in our workshops is exactly about exploring how to genuinely unite opposites within a common ground, whether the conflict is within or without.
It's about how to get from where we are - to where we want to go. As an individual. As a community. As a world.
It's a journey into light - the light of our awakened selves, alive and aware of what we need to do to beat past prejudices, past religious and cultural differences, past unconscious waste of our natural resources.
Violence, poverty, oppression, hate -- and so many more of the ills at a global scale, including our great need to care for the environment -- is only first healable at the personal level.
And to get to the core of who you are - and transform it - means going deep. The subconscious. The deep psyche where symbols, images, body messages, and dreams speak to us.
By working with art media, and not just talk which is subject to evasive rationale, the power of symbols is brought to the conscious level as a way to more deeply understand how to heal ourselves and our world.

Healing The Zebra opens its geodesic dome door on June 15, 2009, with initial classes for adults, however, the intention is to offer classes to youth as well by 2010, so please stay tuned!
We also want to establish a way by which youth all over the world can both show and sell their art - expressing what is important to them and for their future, and for the world's future. Since our school intention is not about developing 'talent' or skills - but rather simply encouraging non-judged free creative expression, we anticipate art submittals will be remarkable and transformational, stretching any limiting ideas about what 'art' is, and what it's true purpose is in communication.
