GOSEA aims to achieve awareness at universities on sustainable development.

Today's students are tomorrow's researchers and policy makers. For a sustainable future it is therefore essential that they leave their universities with an appropriate attitude and background. Also, it is important to consider here the special position students have. They can play a major part in the exchange of information between society and university.

Students have got access to a vast amount of knowledge at their university libraries, through their professors and through the indigenous knowledge of their region. All these sources of knowledge can be brought outside of university onto 'the street'. At the same time, students take part in society and know about the societal difficulties when it comes to sustainability. Because of this position, student groups can play an important role in trying to raise awareness on the issue of sustainable development.

To accomplish a sustainable future and to be able to share knowledge and experience among student environmental groups GOSEA facilitates and encourages the collaboration and interaction between the different local groups. GOSEA offers a helping hand in the formation of national networks of student env. groups, as these can play a strengthening role for the local groups. To achieve this GOSEA promotes the 20 principles and action pointsdefined in the VOICES Charter.
