The Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is the World's first Multi-Stakeholder Partnership in the area of ICT for development. We are a global network open for all ICT4D- oriented organisations from all sectors and nations, committed to harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies for sustainable and equitable development.
Within the GKP framework, governments, civil society groups, donor agencies, private sector companies and inter-governmental organisations come together as equals to apply ICTs for development (ICT4D). Such alliances are known as "Multi-stakeholder Partnerships" (MSPs), a relatively new approach to forging collaborations among different sectors sharing a common vision and goal.
Founded in 1997, GKP now comprises more than 90 organisations based in 40 countries comprising governments and donor agencies, international institutions including UN agencies, private sector companies, NGOs, academia and media. It is governed by an ele3cted Executive Committee and serviced by a Secretariat based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The GKP Thematic focused areas are:
. Multi-stakeholder Partnerships (MSPs)
. Poverty Reduction
. Youth
. Gender
. Financing
. Media
. Internet Governance
. Local Content, Indigenous Knowledge and Intellectual Property Rights
