Africa is a continent of vast landscapes and beautiful people. It is a land of incredible children who face unbearable challenges and an uncertain future from an HIV/AIDS crisis that has radically altered their homes and their homeland. In Zimbabwe 500 hundred people die everyday from AIDS related illnesses and 1,000 children become orphaned. Entire communities are being ravaged by this virus, leaving behind children with forgotten voices that are too young or too vulnerable to rise above the background noise of a busy and preoccupied world. These children have become our inspiration. These children are why we are here.
Forgotten Voices is demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ by equipping local churches in southern Africa to meet the physical and spiritual needs of AIDS orphans in their communities. Our work is based on the premise that every person is precious to God. He hears every voice and is able to bring life-changing hope to every child. We believe this makes Africa a land of great promise.
Joined together with people from across America and throughout the world, we are empowering community leaders with the necessary resources to help their fellow Africans, providing hope, one child at a time. To this end, the work of Forgotten Voices includes HIV/AIDS education, pastoral training, funding education for children who cannot afford it, providing care for orphans and sharing the stories of our African partners with our friends throughout the world.
We know these children and their communities. We are drawn to their struggle and connected to their lives. And through these relationships, we are being transformed even as God transforms the lives of these beautiful children. We invite everyone to become a part of this incredible journey and share in our mission of hope.

Kids
Through this new program, we are able to provide resources for your kids to learn more about the challenges and suffering occurring around the world...but in a positive and constructive way. Our tools, in three easy steps, help your kids learn how children all over the world can serve their young friends together.
The “Kids Serving Kids” program has three components:
* “My Special Place” – the story of young Zimbabwean girl, Rebecca, age 7
o A PowerPoint called “My Special Place ”, which highlights the story of a 7 year old girl in Zimbabwe whose mother is dying. This young girl provides a brief tour for her American friends, showing just some of the beautiful things that make her country of Zimbabwe so special.
* “Kids Serving Kids” Handout
o A picture handout is made for every child that participates in your program. This handout provides a picture of a Zimbabwean child that your children can focus on. There are no names listed for security. Each handout also contains three things that your children can do today to serve their new friend in Zimbabwe.
* A Meaningful, Unique, and Practical Fundraising Project
o FVI will work with your group to determine a fundraising project for your children that they can understand. One church collected school supplies, another raised money for food, and another raised money to send kids to school in Zimbabwe. By recognizing that every gift is important, FVI believes this component teaches kids that they can accomplish great things, no matter their age.
Students
Look. We are with you. We are all searching for a connection to something that means more than just the homework you are facing and the seemingly endless classes you have to go through. We’ve been there. Forgotten Voices was started by a young adult community called Icon and the original team that went was made up by people who were mostly in their 20s.
A good friend of ours once said, “We need your time, but we really need your money.” For college students that is still true. Every gift, regardless of size, matters in Africa. But, we also want you to make use of your time in school.
Here are some ways that can use your voice…
Research Projects: If you're a student with dreaded homework assignments, this is for you! We need research on Africa-related topics across a wide-range of college majors and issues. Click here to get involved.
Share our story: Join our Facebook Group (or start one for your school), MySpace page, share our YouTube videos, and tell your friends through traditional methods like… ready?.... conversations in person!
Search for Forgotten Voices: GoodSearch.com is partnering with Forgotten Voices to send orphans to school. Every time you search the internet with GoodSearch, Forgotten Voices gets $0.01. Tell your friends! We also have a Facebook Group for this!
Campus/Young Adult Ministry Group Fundraisers: Is your group into events like coffeehouses or volleyball tournaments or comedy shows? Consider linking the event to raise awareness about HIV & Forgotten Voices. Check out an example. You are creative. Post ideas on the Facebook page and share with others how you can help! Check back here when new ideas are posted!
Campus Liaison: Are you interested in helping us figure out how to engage college students?
