xposé is a youth led tobacco awareness project, where youth educate other youth on the dangers of tobacco and the tobacco industries manipulation tactics.
The project began in 2002 with 20 Ottawa high schools. Now heading into our 4th year, we are proud to say we have participating schools from ALL four Ottawa school boards!! (48 schools in total).
We are funded by Smoke-free Ontario, Health Canada and Ottawa Public Health and are partners with the Ottawa 67s Hockey Club and the Ottawa Renegades CFL Football Team.

First and foremost we have to thank Roch St. Georges for an amazing job on our new and improved website! It rocks! Merci!! Tu as fait un très beau travail!"
Well, we are proud to announce that the number of our youth facilitators has grown to 27 this year! They are born leaders who are excited about going in to your high schools to spread the word about ‘Unmasking the Tobacco Industry”.
October was a pretty busy month for exposé. We had our third Youth Summit in French and English, which were a success. The day was filled with fun activities, interesting presentations by our YF’s on Tobacco and the Developing World, Tobacco and Hollywood and Big Tobacco Tactics. And of course you can’t forget the amazing food! It was a great time for the students from high schools to meet youth from other high schools and see the great impact they can have on their schools and community.
Later that same night on October 21 the YF’s went to Capital Music Hall tired and hungry and braved through the night at a Hot 89.9 Bounce Dance! The exposé group took over the dance floor as we got down and let lose jamming to the music spun by DJ Tower! Props to our YF’s Tristene and Mo who did an amazing job as MC’s along with Kid Kiwi. It was a fun night and we’re hoping to have another exposé sponsored Bounce dance really soon!
Speaking of Hot 89.9, has anyone heard our new exposé ads on the radio? Well, our talented YF’s along with a few high school students created, their own exposé radio ads! Great job guys!
Last but not least there is the up and coming magazine and will be on newsstands soon!!! Well maybe not newsstands but they will be available at your high schools so ask your YF who will be glad to pass that on to you! In the magazine you will find…well maybe we should just let you see for yourself! Enjoy!!
Well, that’s the latest news on exposé so far but keep in mind, we’re not done yet there’s still more exciting stuff to be done! Look forward to a Media Launch coming up in November, National Non-Smoking Week (NNSW) in January which will blow your mind!! We’ve also got Unity Day and there will be more info on that event very soon!
Let’s keep the fight alive and give the tobacco industry something to talk about!!
One day-there will be no such thing as Big Tobacco!!!! Maybe small tobacco; Or what about no tobacco!?! Great work everyone-more news to come!!!
