As the only environment museum in North America, the Biosphère's mandate is to raise awareness and to encourage citizens to take action and get involved in environmental issues. The museum distinguishes itself by its interactive and educational exhibits as well as animated activities which are aimed at increasing understanding of major environmental issues such as air, water, biodiversity, climate change, sustainable development and more.

What does the organization do?
Since 2007, it has housed a National Centre of Expertise on Environmental Education and Commitment. Since 2007, it has housed a National Centre of Expertise on Environmental Education and Commitment. From its high-tech studios, the museum offers live and interactive videoconferences on various environmental subjects to secondary schools across Canada in English and in French. The Biosphere also offers outreach tools like the BioKits for Canadians. Through a complete Educational program, it also provides primary and secondary schools with activities on site at the Biosphère, at school or in the field.

Opportunities for Youth
The Biosphere offers educational activites on site and virtually to primary, secondary and post-secondary students as well as support to teachers and the public on a wide array of environmental and scientific issues. The Biosphere encourages youth empowerment towards environmental actions.
